Do you remember or still read the Berenstain Bear books? Well, I have
some sad news. The 88 year-old co-creator, Jan Berenstain, just passed
away. I wanted to acknowledge all the wonderful work that this woman did
with
her husband by writing a brief post. If you are interested in reading
more you can read about it
from the
L.A. Times or any newspaper.

These
books were a huge part of my growing up years. I loved the stories and
illustrations. I remember as a kids wanting so badly to live in a tree
house just like the Brother and Sister Bear. I even tried to model
organizing my room after Sister Bear. There are a few of these books in
my classroom, mainly the ones that teach about bullying, that I
sometimes read to my students.
I want to say thank you to
Jan for her creativity and dedication for incorporating quality 'family
values' into her work. I know I was touched by her efforts.
